Migratory Waterfowl

Basic Information

All migratory birds are federally protected by the United States Fish and Wildlife Services. The Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA) makes it unlawful to pursue, hunt, take captive or kill migratory birds or to destroy any migratory bird nest or egg. A property owner has no constitutional right to kill or harm federally protected migratory birds to protect property.

Not all waterfowl that are protected are listed here

Fun Facts

They are called migratory because they travel from north to south and south to north depending on the seasons. Texas is one of the best places to see migratory birds because, like us, they enjoy our warm weather.
