[ARCHIVED] Sugar Land to Waive Permit Fees for Hurricane Beryl Recovery

CityHall

Sugar Land, TX – Sugar Land City Council recently approved an ordinance to provide relief for those facing repairs due to Hurricane Beryl.

Through Oct. 1, permits fees for repairs needed as a result of Hurricane Beryl will be temporarily waived. The measure aims to reduce the financial burden of necessary repairs while still completing the permitting and inspection process which helps protect residents and businesses by ensuring all repairs are safely installed and follow applicable codes.

This ordinance follows the city’s tradition of offering a variety of relief measures in the face of severe weather events. Previously, the city waived permit fees for roof repairs following Hurricane Ike and provided various relief measures, including fee waivers, following Winter Storm Uri.

"Sugar Land has a history of providing relief to residents and businesses following severe weather events," said Chief Building Official Joshua Doyle. "In the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, we are taking immediate action to support our community in rebuilding and recovering."
