[ARCHIVED] Sugar Land Civic Arts Division Presents Make Music Day Celebration

Make Music Sugar Land

Sugar Land, Texas — Sugar Land Civic Arts Division will participate in the global Make Music Day celebration with an event planned for Friday, June 21, in Sugar Land Town Square.

Make Music Day, a worldwide phenomenon, invites communities to come together on the summer solstice to revel in the joy of music-making.

This year, Sugar Land joins more than 1,000 cities worldwide in commemorating Make Music Day, an event inspired by France’s Fête de la Musique. From seasoned musicians to beginners, everyone is encouraged to be a part of this musical extravaganza. The festivities in Sugar Land will feature free live performances, interactive music-making opportunities and various musical events throughout the day.

The event kicks off at 10 a.m. and continues until 4 p.m., promising a day filled with harmonious melodies and rhythmic beats. Attendees can expect a diverse range of musical genres, from jazz to rock to classical, ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy.

"As advocates for the arts and community enrichment, the Sugar Land Civic Arts Division is thrilled to participate in Make Music Day," said Sha Davis, Civic Arts manager. "Music has the power to unite people, uplift spirits and foster creativity. We invite everyone to join us in celebrating the universal language of music."

Make Music Day is not just about entertainment; it's about harnessing the transformative power of music. Studies have shown that music has numerous benefits, including strengthening social bonds, reducing stress and enhancing overall well-being. By embracing Make Music Day, Sugar Land reaffirms its commitment to promoting a vibrant and inclusive community.

National Association of Music Merchants members and partners, including the Sugar Land Civic Arts Division, will be part of the nationwide celebrations. June 21presents the perfect opportunity for individuals to explore their musical passions, whether by attending a local concert or picking up a new instrument.
