Construction to realign Kempner Street (between Main Street and Wood Street) is expected to begin the week of Jan. 30. In addition, the crossing at Wood Street is scheduled to permanently close per the City’s agreement with UPRR which is based on City Council action & approval.
As part of the permanent closure at Wood St. the wayside horn will be permanently removed. Train horns may intermittently blow for a short duration. If horns are blowing or gate arms are down for an extended period time, motorists are NOT recommended to get out of their vehicles and lift the gate arms as it is unsafe. If trains or gate arms impede passing any crossing along US 90A, motorists are encouraged to contact UPR Response Management Communication Center at (888) 877-7267.
