Union Pacific Railroad plans to close the railroad crossings at Brooks Street and Eldridge Road along U.S. Highway 90A on July 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A similar closure is planned at Highway 6 on July 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The closures are planned to improve the quality of the crossings along U.S. Highway 90A.
The work is the result of the City’s continued efforts to influence a solution that meets the expectations of the City and our residents. Residents should seek alternate routes during the crossing closures, as delays are expected. We appreciate your patience while this important work is completed. UPRR established the railroad and their right of way before the city of Sugar Land was built. UPRR owns the rights to the railroad and all rights of way at the crossings. The City cannot have any work performed within 25 feet of the rail track without proper permits from UPRR.
We encourage residents to use the Railroad Tracker feature on the MySugarLand App or visit its.sugarlandtx.gov to monitor railroad crossings and view real-time traffic data. If residents have any questions or concerns about the railroad, contact the UPR Response Management Communications Center at (888)-877-7267.
