Vision for Imperial Historic District Approved
The City of Sugar Land approved the final Vision Statement and Guiding Pillars for the Imperial Historic District, establishing a community-driven framework for redevelopment and advancing the City toward issuing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to find a master development partner.
The vision statement and guiding pillars outline the priorities that will shape future redevelopment of the approximately 40-acre Imperial Historic District, including the iconic Imperial Sugar Char House and surrounding historic structures. Together, they provide clear direction for potential development partners as the City prepares to release an RFQ on February 25.
For more information on the Imperial Historic District preservation project and visioning process, including recordings of the opening and closing visioning meetings, visit sugarlandtx.gov/ Imperial Historic District.

Lend a Hand Sugar Land Returns
The City of Sugar Land is proud to announce the return of Lend a Hand Sugar Land, a community-wide volunteer initiative taking place Saturday, April 11, 2026. Now in its second year, the program brings together volunteers, local businesses, nonprofits, and city partners to assist residents with simple home and yard tasks they may not be able to complete on their own. Last year’s event mobilized more than 100 volunteers and community partners to complete 16 projects across the city, contributing over 700 volunteer hours. The city is currently seeking volunteers, sponsors, and donors to help expand the program’s impact in 2026. Residents living within Sugar Land city limits, or those who know someone in need, are encouraged to apply for assistance. Learn more and get involved at SugarLandTX.gov/LendAHand.
Find all the ways to connect with the City of Sugar Land
The City of Sugar Land’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) is a forward-looking, five-year plan designed to address present and future infrastructure needs. It covers key projects ranging from underground systems like water and sewer, to visible improvements like roadways and the sidewalks within the city.
The CIP aligns project priorities with the City’s comprehensive and master plans, the annual budget, and financial forecasts. This centralized and coordinated approach enhances efficiency, avoids redundancies, informs public and financial stakeholders, and supports future capital funding decisions—ultimately ensuring responsible use of public funds.
In summary, the CIP:
- Prioritizes projects based on community goals
- Keeps the public informed and involved
- Improves interdepartmental coordination and resource utilization
- Enables proactive, economically sound project financing
- Supports the City’s financial health and credit standing
The program also tracks preliminary engineering efforts (PERs), which help identify future CIP projects once full design phase funding becomes available.
