Sugar Land Memorial Tree & Bench Program
The Sugar Land Memorial Tree & Bench Program is a unique way to enhance the beauty and quality of our parks for many years to come, while honoring the life of a loved one. We offer the below donation options.
Memorial Tree
Planting a memorial tree provides benefits to the community and environment, while also providing a unique and significant tribute to your loved one.
**Due to the drought in our area, tree plantings applications are on hold until further notice. We apologize for any convenience.**
Donors may choose either live oaks and cedar elms to become memorial trees, which are durable and drought-tolerant. 30 gallons in size are the standard planting size.
Planting season for trees is from November 1st and ends on March 1st of each year.
Memorial trees can be planted at the following parks:
Brazos River Park, City Park, Colony Bend Park, Eldridge Park, First Colony Park, Memorial Park, Park at the Levee, Pawm Springs Dog Park*, Sugar Mill Park & Sugar Lakes Park.
*Memorial trees at Pawm Springs Dog Park:
Individuals who would like to honor the memory of their beloved canine pets may have a memorial tree planted at Pawm Springs Dog Park. A centralized memorial board with nameplates is installed at the South Meadow Pavilion adjacent to the dog park, in lieu of a plaque at the foot of the memorial tree, in order to eliminate obstructions for dogs running throughout the park.
July Memorial Benches
Memorial benches provide a way honor or remember a loved one, while offering respite to park visitors to help them enjoy their surroundings.
***Due to an influx of memorial bench applications, we will be pausing the program until July 15, 2024. We apologize for any convenience.***
Memorial benches can be installed at the following parks:
Cullinan Park, Covington West Park, First Colony Park, Highlands Park, Imperial Park, Lonnie Green Park, Meadow Lake Park, Sugar Land Memorial Park South Meadow, River Park Trail, Mesquite Park, Mayfield Park, Park at the Levee and Slockett Park.
