Our Mission

Lend a Hand, Sugar Land is a community-driven event focused on giving back to the city that has enriched the lives of its residents. Our mission is to bring people together through acts of service, empowering individuals to create meaningful change and ensuring Sugar Land remains a vibrant and welcoming community—as sweet as its name.

Want to Volunteer?

Be part of something bigger and help make a lasting impact in our community! Lend a Hand, Sugar Land is powered by dedicated volunteers who are passionate about giving back. Whether you’re an individual, a family, or part of a group, there’s a place for everyone to contribute. Please ensure you arrange your own transportation to and from the event, including the kickoff ceremony and volunteer location(s).

All volunteers must complete the Serve Sugar Land Handbook, and those 18+ will need to undergo a background check before participating.

Please note that we cannot accept day of volunteers who show up at the event without having signed up in advance. All volunteers must be registered before the event day. Last day to register to be a volunteer is Thursday, April 2nd at 5:00 p.m. 

Apply for Home Assistance

Residents may submit a request for themselves or on behalf of a neighbor, family member, or friend who could benefit from assistance. Requests will be reviewed based on community need, volunteer availability, and project scope.

The deadline to request assistance is Friday, March 27, 2026. Selected residents will be notified prior to the event.

Lend a Hand, Sugar Land thrives on the generosity and support of our community. Whether you’re an individual, business, or organization, there are many ways to contribute and make a meaningful impact. Donations of tools, supplies, food, or financial contributions help us provide essential resources for our volunteers and ensure the success of this city-wide day of service.

Lend a Hand, Sugar Land is a collaborative effort between multiple City of Sugar Land departments, including Communications and Neighborhood Services. Together, these teams work to organize and support meaningful service opportunities that bring residents together to give back to their community. Through this partnership, the event empowers individuals to create meaningful change, fostering a spirit of service and ensuring that Sugar Land remains a vibrant and welcoming community.
