Assistant Chief White began his career with the Sugar Land Police Department in June of 2005. During his 20-year career he has worked as a Patrol Officer, a Patrol Sergeant and a Patrol Lieutenant. In that time, David has worked as a Field Training Officer, Field Training Sergeant, oral review board member, policy review committee member, Fit Force Coordinator, Honor Guard Commander, Crisis Negotiation Team Commander, and SWAT Team Commander.
Before becoming a Sugar Land Police Officer, David served in the Army at Fort Polk, Louisiana and attained the rank of Specialist. David received the good conduct medal, Army achievement medal and the United Nations medal for his service in a peacekeeping mission in Haiti.
David attended Houston Community College and graduated with honors earning an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice. David went on to attend University of Houston-Downtown to earn a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Criminal Justice and graduated with honors by maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
Captain White currently serves in the Technical Services Bureau as the Professional Services Captain, and is responsible for Data Management, Accreditation, Fleet Equipment, contracts, and secondary employment.
