Smoking Regulations

City smoking regulations serve multiple purposes, encompassing public health, environmental protection, and the well-being of both smokers and non-smokers. By creating smoke-free public spaces, cities foster environments that support healthier lifestyles and contribute to the general welfare of the community.

Smoking is prohibited

  • Within 25 ft or any entrance or exit, wheelchair ramp, operable windows and ventilation systems
  • Any enclosed public space
  • Enclosed area of a place of employment
  • Outdoor arena
  • A public park
  • Town Square Plaza
  • TIRZ No. 4 Plaza

Smoking is allowed

  • Bars in operation on or before December 31, 2007
  • Tobacco bars in operation on or before December 13, 2023
  • Country clubs
  • Stage areas of enclosed theaters, if smoking is an integral part of a theatrical performance
  • Qualifying Town Square & TIRZ No. 4 Plaza events
  • Restaurant outdoor seating that meets distance requirements

How to Report a Violation

If you observe a violation of City's Smoking Ordinance, you may report the business to Code Enforcement via 311 or codeenforcement@sugarlandtx.gov.
