Foster Program

Shelters can be noisy, stressful places for animals, and fostering allows shelter residents the opportunity to decompress and get quality one-on-one attention. It is not uncommon for the shelter to be bursting at the seams with animals, so by fostering, you are playing a key role in saving lives

  • Take a look at the Foster Program Guidebook to learn about fostering a pet in need. It has everything you need to know about how to be a great foster parent!
  • If you're ready to join the team, you'll need to fill out a Foster Application.  After submitting your application you should receive an email response shortly after.
  • Once you've had a chance to get to know your foster pet, we ask that you fill out a Behavioral Questionnaire which will help staff find the perfect permanent home.

Foster families provide an invaluable service to our most vulnerable animals, from bottle feeding tiny kittens to offering medical support and socialization, helping them thrive until they find their forever homes. Learn more about each foster opportunity below:

Bottle Baby Care

Join us for a rewarding experience helping mother-less neonate kittens. We will provide supplies and training! This role requires bi-weekly tech appointments for vaccines and updated weights. Most kittens will be returned by 8 weeks to prepare for surgery and their next phase in adoption.

Need Socialization

The shelter is a temporary home and for some, quite a scary place initially. Some pets adjust quickly and are ready for their next home, while others need a quieter or slower pace that allows them to build their confidence. Help shy pets in the comfort of your home.

Medical Care

At times we have animals that have injuries or special needs and would benefit from a quiet home. Occasionally we have animals that need amputations or other surgery to better their quality of life. Other times, we have animals with lifelong medical needs such as diabetes, blindness, and more.

Long-Stay Pets

While we would love every pet to be adopted within a few weeks, we do have some pets that have been with us 1, 2, or even more years! We would encourage fosters to look at long-stay pets so they can have time in a house and remember what it is like to relax in a loving home.
