Lt. Rick Lopez
Beat 4 Manager
Lieutenant Ricardo Lopez began his law enforcement career in June of 1990, working for the City of Patton Village Police Department, where he advanced to the rank of Lieutenant. In January 1993, Lieutenant Lopez accepted a position with the City of Sugar Land Police Department as a patrol officer. Over the past 31 years, Lieutenant Lopez has served as a member of the Honor Guard, as a Field Training Officer, as a Field Training Supervisor, as a Child Passenger Safety Technician, as a Fit Force Coordinator and as a Patrol Sergeant. Lieutenant Lopez currently holds a Master Peace Officer Certification and is a certified Basic Instructor, and an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course Instructor through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.
Currently, Lieutenant Lopez is assigned to the Patrol Division working the Evening Shift as a Watch Commander. His duties include providing aid to the patrol sergeants assigned to the shift, and providing leadership and direction to officers in the field. As the watch commander, Lieutenant Lopez is tasked with managing daily operations of the patrol division and ensuring calls for service are answered promptly. He manages department resources to accomplish departmental goals. One of Lieutenant Lopez’s collateral duties is managing Beat 4. His duties as the Beat 4 Manager include identifying crime trends in his beat and developing methods to address them. He oversees a group of eleven officers who are assigned to patrol the beat and works closely with those officers to address crime and quality of life issues.
Officer Arif Vadsaria
Arif moved to Texas, with his family, at the age of five. Over the years, he grew up around the Sharpstown, Northshore, and Alief sections of Houston. After graduating from Alief Hasting HS, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After completing six years of service, he returned to Fort Bend County.
In 2002, Arif moved to Central Florida for several years. There he owned and operated his own business.
In 2008, he and his family, relocated to Sugar Land. A year later, he was hired by the Sugar Land Police Department. Arif received his Basic Peace Officer Certification through Wharton County Junior College, Class of PA72. Upon returning to the Police Department, he was assigned to the Patrol Division. During his time as a Patrol Officer, he was a member of the Special Response Team (SRT), for over five (5) years.
In 2016, Arif was selected as Sugar Land Police Department's Officer of the Year, and he received his Associates Degree from Houston Community College. In 2020, he earned his Master's Peace Officer Certification. Arif has taken a special interest in Mental Health. Arif ethnicity derives from an Indian and Pakistani culture. He speaks and understands Hindi and Urdu.
In his free time, Arif enjoys spending time with family. In addition, he enjoys several hobbies, and watching sports highlights and in car dash camera footage on YouTube.
Arif is now assigned to the Crime Prevention Division in Beat 4.
