Mosquito Study
Project dates: May to June, 2025
The City wants to evaluate the effectiveness of the current mosquito spray program and incorporate the results of this study into a comprehensive mosquito management program. The results of this study will allow the city to make data-driven decisions to evaluate the frequency of mosquito sprays to maximize the mosquito control program effectiveness, protect the environment, and minimize public exposure to harmful pesticides.
To compare the effectiveness of varying levels of spraying frequency, streets in study sites are divided into three treatments: control (no spray), one spray per week, and two sprays per week. Treatments are assigned to streets at random and regular spraying will resume after the study.
This map shows the 6 Testing zones (1, 2, 4, 5, New Territory, and Greatwood) where the study will take place. See the spray schedule below for more details.
