Professional Services
Captain Jesse Huang is responsible for the Professional Services Division, which includes Fleet and Uniform Services, Data Management, the Drone Unit and Accreditation. The division provides ancillary services to the officers of the department as well as the community.
Fleet and Uniform Services
The Fleet and Uniform section is responsible for providing uniforms and associated equipment to all sworn and civilian staff that require uniforms. This section also oversees the purchase and installation of all equipment needed to outfit the police fleet.
CALEA
CALEA (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies) Accreditation Programs improve the delivery of public safety services, primarily by maintaining a body of standards, developed by public safety practitioners and covering a wide range of up-to-date public safety initiatives.
Detention
The Detention Section operates the Sugar Land Police Department's detention facility. If you have a question regarding a detainee, please call 281-275-2600 and a detention officer will assist you with your inquiry.
Drone Unit
The drone unit was established in late 2021 and consists of 11 pilots and five drones. Drones are used in search and rescue operations, surveillance, documenting crime scenes, monitoring traffic, and tactical operations such as SWAT and patrol procedures. They are equipped with thermal imaging cameras for locating missing persons and detecting body heat in various conditions.
Court Security / Warrant Officers
The department has 4 officers assigned to the Municipal Court that provide court security and warrant resolutions. These officers are tasked with contacting violators that have unpaid citations and /or failed to appear for their court dates, resulting in warrants issued by the Municipal Judges. Secondary Employment
Residents of Sugar Land may hire off-duty Sugar Land Officers to provide security for private events. In addition to these events, officers provide security for local businesses on an off-duty basis paid for by the local business. Wrecker
The city utilizes a wrecker rotation system for vehicles to be removed from roadways of Sugar Land Police investigations. If you vehicle was removed involving a Sugar Land investigation or accident and you have a question or concern on the wrecker service, please contact the Wrecker Compliance Manager at 281-275-2522 or email anguyen@sugarlandtx.gov.
