New Water Exhibit Promises More Family Fun

2025 City News Releases Posted on February 03, 2025

Sugar Land, TX – The city of Sugar Land continues a partnership with the Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land to offer an educational, interactive water exhibition.

Last year, more than 9,000 students and community members attended our captivating exhibit, and this year, we invite the community to join us once again for a brand-new educational adventure. The "Wild Weather" exhibit opened February 1 and will run through May 11, offering an immersive experience designed to explore the wonders and extremes of weather.

“This fun, interactive exhibit is designed to promote a greater sense of knowledge and awareness as guests explore heat, hurricanes, severe thunderstorms and tornadoes,” said Director of Utilities Katie Clayton, P.E.

In addition to the exhibit, a series of lectures and demonstrations are slated to be held the week of spring break, March 10-14, where families who attend have the opportunity to learn how various city departments including Public Works and Utilities, respond to keep residents safe and maintain their quality of life.

“We are thrilled to offer children and their parents an opportunity to experience the science and impact of severe weather. Through this unique experience, we also hope that our local community leaves with a greater understanding of how local infrastructure is affected by weather and are inspired to prepare themselves to be ready for anything that strikes,” said Clayton. “Investing in passive educational opportunities like this exhibit allows us to reach and educate a large number of community members as the spring field trip season offers a significant educational return on investment and further strengthens the local partnership with HMNS at Sugar Land.”

Whether you’re a weather enthusiast or simply looking for a fun, informative outing, this exhibit promises to engage and inspire visitors of all ages.
