Sugar Land, TX – The Sugar Land 4B Corporation recently approved a $500,000 Commercial Revitalization Grant program to support the redevelopment of commercial centers within the city.

The program will provide funding to property owners of multi-tenant centers that are at least 20 years old and have a minimum of 15,000 square feet of leasable space. Businesses can receive reimbursement for up to 20 percent of the total project cost for eligible site improvements such as, open space improvements, new site amenities, improvements to public-right-of-way or infrastructure and more.
Applicants are encouraged to submit proposals for projects that accomplish two or more of the following development outcomes:
- Modernize Building Facades
- Create Public Spaces
- Promote Walkability
- Enhance Parking Infrastructure
- Stimulate Substantial Economic Impact
- Innovate with Transformative Public Projects that the City has not seen before
“As Sugar Land approaches build-out, this program provides a unique opportunity to redefine the city,” said Assistant Director of Redevelopment, Jessica Huble. “By strategically redeveloping and investing in the commercial centers and public spaces, Sugar Land can not only maintain our high quality of life but also create a more vibrant, attractive, and sustainable community that will continue to thrive for years to come.”
Redevelopment initiatives like the Commercial Revitalization Grant program helps Sugar Land maintain one of the state’s lowest tax rates for city’s our size, while also providing the high level of services expected of citizens, including projects that address key priorities of residents.
Individual grant amounts funded from the $500,000 pilot program during fiscal year 2025 will be determined on a project-by-project basis. Applications are expected to be available by January 2025.
