SLPD Investigation Leads to Arrest for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Minor

SUGAR LAND, TX, March 6, 2026 —The Sugar Land Police Department completed an investigation that resulted in the arrest of 24-year old Mersi Gomez of Rosenberg, Texas for Continuous Sexual Abuse. Under Texas law, a person commits Continuous Sexual Abuse if, over a period of 30 or more days, the person commits two or more acts of sexual abuse against a child younger than 14 years of age. Continuous Sexual Abuse is a felony offense carrying a punishment of 25 years to life, and no probation in Texas.
