A Citywide, Day-Long Celebration of Free Music, Lessons, and Community Connection

Sugar Land, Texas – June 19, 2025 - The city of Sugar Land is proud to present Make Music Day Sugar Land on Saturday, June 21, 2025, joining more than 1,000 cities around the world in a global celebration of music. From early morning performances to interactive afternoon lessons and an evening of live concerts, this citywide event is free and open to the public, designed for music lovers of all ages and skill levels.

The day begins at the Imperial Farmers Market from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM with a rotation of busker-style performances, bringing lively, spontaneous music to the heart of the market.

In the afternoon, Sugar Land Town Square transforms into a hands-on music hub led by the talented instructors of School of Rock Sugar Land. From 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, where visitors can participate in free mini music lessons, featuring guitar, piano, drums, violin, flute, and more. A special House Band performance at 4:30 PM will showcase young local talent. Buskers will also pop up throughout the Square between 3:30 and 4:30 PM, activating patios and sidewalks near spots like Flying Saucer and Baker Street Pub.

As the sun sets, the excitement builds with a free concert at Sugar Land Town Square, featuring three incredible local bands who represent a variety of musical genres, from jazz and pop to Trova and Bolero. Performances will run from 6:30 PM to 9:15 PM, highlighting the vibrant talent growing right here in our community.

For adults looking to keep the rhythm going, Baker Street Pub will host a special close-out set with live music and custom-crafted drinks created just for the occasion.

“We’re thrilled to bring Make Music Day back to Sugar Land for the second year, joining cities around the world in this truly global celebration,” said Sha Davis, Sugar Land’s Civic Arts Manager. “This event not only brings our community together but strengthens our local music industry and uplifts the incredible artists who call Sugar Land home. We’re building something special here, more music, more opportunity, and more connection.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet members of Sugar Land’s Music Advisory Board, who will be present during the evening concert to answer questions and share information about the City’s growing Live Music Initiative.
