Sugar Land, Texas – Based on the unofficial results of the May 3, 2025, General Election, the City is proceeding with preparations for a runoff election scheduled for Saturday, June 7, 2025.

The following races will appear on the runoff ballot:

• Mayor
  • William Ferguson
  • Carol McCutcheon
• At Large Position One
  • Maggie Horgan
  • Jim Vonderhaar
• District Two
  • Sanjay Singhal
  • Nasir Hussain

The following candidates secured victory and will not appear on the runoff ballot:

• At Large Position Two
  • Robert Boettcher
• District Four
  • Rick Miller

A special City Council meeting will be held on May 13, 2025, to canvass the May 3 election results and formally call the runoff election.

In addition, the proposed Charter Amendment was not approved, with 8,295 votes against and 6,267 votes in favor.

Early voting for the runoff election will take place from May 27 through June 3, 2025. The last day to register to vote in this election is Thursday, May 8, 2025.
