Why do I need a rental license? Shouldn’t I be able to do what I want with my property?

The City of Sugar Land has a Code of Ordinances and a Development Code which outline allowed uses and maintenance/construction standards for all properties within the city limits. Through these regulations, the City is able to provide a safe, attractive and welcoming environment for residents and visitors.
