The construction of dual left turn lanes on northbound First Colony Blvd. and southbound Brooks St. is nearing completion. The roadway is now open and new traffic lane assignments are in effect.
First Colony Blvd:
- 2 Left Turn Lanes
- 2 Through Lanes
- 1 Right Turn Lane
Brooks St.:
- 2 Left Turn Lanes
- 2 Through Lanes
- 1 Right Turn Lane
This project was the result of a traffic study conducted to evaluate solutions to reduce congestion, improve mobility and increase driver safety around this intersection - as it had been previously identified as a high-traffic area.

A capital improvement project (CST2202) at the intersection of Hwy 6 and Brooks St./First Colony Blvd. is currently under construction. The intersection will be reconfigured by adding dual concurrent left turn lanes on northbound First Colony Blvd. and southbound Brooks St. The anticipated completion for this construction is mid-November. A traffic study was conducted to evaluate solutions to reduce congestion, improve mobility and increase driver safety around this intersection as it had been previously identified as a high-traffic area.
