Sugar Land, Texas – The city of Sugar Land will accept applications through Nov. 13 for the next Sugar Land 101 class scheduled to begin in January 2018.
Sugar Land 101 participants learn about city operations from Sugar Land’s top managers. The class also includes a mock City Council meeting and two citywide tours, including a behind the scenes look at city facilities.
“It was great to see the enthusiasm that the speakers had for the city and for their jobs,” said Sugar Land 101 alumni Elaine Pascual. “I really appreciate that the city provides this class and for free; it makes the city more transparent and accessible.”
Fellow alumni Griselda Gonzales encourages residents to apply as she “really enjoyed the tours and meeting at different locations for the classes,” adding that she became more familiar with the city.
Those applying for Sugar Land 101 must be a resident of the city, New Territory or Greatwood for at least one year, at least 21 years of age, not currently holding or running for elected office and willing to attend the 10-week session.
