T.E. Harman

T. E. Harman was elected the first Mayor of Sugar Land on Dec. 15, 1959. He served two terms: 1959-1961 and 1964-1968. Harman was responsible for many groundbreaking accomplishments while Mayor, including the creation of a city council building, plumbing and electricity codes, the city police force and a comprehensive plan in 1961 that paved the way for zoning.
