Applications for the Citizen's Police Academy #60 are now available. Applications will be accepted until July 1, 2017.
They are on the front lines of public safety, preventing and investigating crime, protecting and aiding citizens, and ready to put their lives at risk for people they’ve never met. They are the Sugar Land Police Department, and now you have the opportunity to take an inside look at the department, a remarkable organization of people and technology.
Citizens' Police Academy #60
The 60th session of Sugar Land Citizens' Police Academy will begin in August of 2017.
The class will meet every Thursday for 10 weeks from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m., with 2 classes being held on Saturdays at the Sugar Land Police Department. Students are introduced to all aspects of law enforcement, including:
Police Department Structure
Criminal Scene Investigations (CSI: Sugar Land)
Traffic Laws and Traffic Stops
Active Shooter Situation Response
In order to be considered for the academy, an applicant must:
Be a current resident of Sugar Land, the extra territorial jurisdiction (Greatwood and New Territory), or have an employment address within the incorporated city limits of Sugar Land.
Submit a completed application
Provide a copy of their drivers license
Provide a copy of valid automobile liability insurance (upon admission to class)
Have no criminal history containing a class B misdemeanor or above in the previous 5 years from the date of application
Have no felony convictions regardless of time period
This class is offered free of charge.
