Movie Under the Moon

Friday, July 19, 2019
7 - 9 p.m.
Oyster Creek Park
4033 Highway 6

To round out the summer, a Movie Under the Moon will be held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing and National Parks and Recreation Month.

In 1969, the NASA astronauts of Apollo 11 heroically demonstrated a universal truth - that mankind’s greatest leaps begin with the bravery of a single small step.

As neighboring cities join forces to commemorate the steps taken, Sugar Land’s celebration will feature the following:

  • 7 p.m. the celebration kicks off with a special video tribute highlighting the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.
  • 7:30 p.m. - Lilo & Stitch - the popular animated feature produced in 2002 will be shared with the audience. The film is rated PG, and the length of the film is 1 hour and 25 minutes. Prior to the movie, “Bret the Kid Elvis Performer” will present a special magic show as a tribute to Elvis Presley songs featured in the movie soundtrack. Blanket and lawn chair seating is encouraged.

Face painters will be on location facilitating a “Face Painting” booth for all to enjoy. Face painters will share temporary tattoos featuring space-themed images. There will be no charge for the space painting activity.

To further celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, a limited supply of free moon pies will be distributed to the audience. Food for purchase and free lawn games will also be available.
