National Bike Month

The City of Sugar Land will celebrate National Bike Month throughout the Month of May by promoting self-guided bike tours around the city. Each week will feature a tour in different areas of the city. Join residents, neighbors, and friends for a celebratory bike tour around Sugar Land.

The bike tours raise awareness about alternative ways to get around, the need to create safer routes for bicycling. The tours also help emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity, safety, reducing traffic congestion, and concern for the environment.

Participants are reminded of the following safety tips:

  • Always wear a helmet
  • Before you ride, make sure your bike is in good working condition
  • Ride on the right side of the road with traffic, never against it
  • Obey all traffic rules, signs and traffic signals
  • Look before you change lanes or signal a turn; indicate your intention, then act
  • Be visible and predictable at all times; wear bright clothing and signal turns
