The Sugar Land Regional Airport Academy provides a comprehensive overview of aviation operations and the facility’s important role in the regional economy. Participants learn about the history of Sugar Land Regional Airport (SLRA), the role of the airport in the City’s organization, the scope of airport operations and the economic impact on the region and the benefits provided to Sugar Land.
SLRA is the foremost general reliever airport in the southwest Houston metro sector handling more than 7200 aircraft each month.

Once on the Sugar Land Volunteer website-
If you are an existing Sugar Land Volunteer, please log into your account in the upper right side. Once logged in click on the "Get Involved" tab on the top of the page and complete the application.
If you are a new volunteer, highlight the "Get Involved" tab located at the top of the page and select the Citizen's Airport Academy Application and complete it.
you must commit to attending the five-week program
you must be at least 21-years-old
you live within a 5 mile radius of the airport, have a Sugar Land address, in Sugar Land ETJ or a Realtor that specializes in the community
you cannot be a City of Sugar Land employee
you are not currently holding or running for elected office in any city, school district, state of federal election
only 1 applicant per household
