City of Sugar Land

Texas Stream Team

The Texas Stream Team is a network of trained volunteers and supportive partners working together to gather information about the natural resources of Texas. The organization, originally developed in 1991 as Texas Watch, is administered as a cooperative partnership between Texas State University, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

In order to learn more about our own local resources, the City of Sugar Land and Keep Sugar Land Beautiful have partnered to coordinate the Texas Stream Team program within the City of Sugar Land.  Through the Texas Stream Team program, volunteers are trained to collect water quality data that can be utilized by state and local agencies to make environmentally sound decisions.  Water quality monitoring can be done individually or in a group.  No matter the group size, the City of Sugar Land needs more water quality monitoring volunteers in our area.

If you are interested in becoming a Texas Stream Team volunteer, please visit the Keep Sugar Land Beautiful website at www.kslb.org or contact Vicki Gist, Keep Sugar Land Beautiful Executive Director, at vickigist@kslb.org or 281-313-5752.
