Street Services
- Drainage Operations - The Street/Drainage Division is responsible for the inspection and maintenance of storm sewer lines and open ditches.
- Mosquito Control - Applications of both larvicide and spraying for the most efficient mosquito control resolution.
- Mosquito Spraying Schedule - During mosquito season, the City receives weekly sprayings on Fridays.
- Rights-of-way Mowing - Rough cut mowing is done 13 times throughout the year and groom cut mowing is done on an as needed basis.
- Sidewalk Maintenance - Through citizens' requests and annual inspections, sidewalk failures are identified and prioritized for repair or replacement.
- Street Maintenance - Through citizens' requests and annual inspection, asphalt and concrete failures are identified and prioritized for repair or replacement.
- Street Sweeping - The primary objective of the program is to provide routine sweeping and cleaning of high traffic areas throughout the City where accumulations of debris occur.
Traffic Services
- Street Lights - Staff performs monthly inspections for streetlights, which have missing globes or are burning during daylight hours. Staff also performs quarterly inspections of all street lights throughout the City, reporting non-working street lights to Reliant Energy/HL&P.
- Traffic Operations - Traffic Operations identifies needed traffic improvements throughout the City and coordinates the design and the construction of these projects.
- Emergency Field Response - Staff is on-call at all times to ensure prompt field responses and solutions to traffic problems.
- Traffic Daily Operations - Staff continually monitors the condition and operation of both City and TxDOT traffic signals through frequent field inspections, monitoring via the Traffic Management System workstation, and communications with the Police Department.
- Traffic Flow Cameras - To help keep Sugar Land motorists moving and enable the City to respond quickly to traffic-related incidents, traffic-management cameras have been installed.
- Rapid Response - When emergency road closures are needed, rapid response is critical both for public safety and to minimize traffic congestion and delays.
Water Services
- Water Production and Treatment - City and contract crews are responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair water plants, water wells, ground storage tanks, elevated storage tanks and high service booster pumps.
- Water Quality Report & Secondary Constituents - This report is a summary of the quality of the water we provide our customers.
- Distribution - City and contractual crews perform repair and maintenance, and installation tasks related to distribution water mains, meters, hydrants and valves.
- Wastewater Collection - City and contractual staff are assigned to maintaining, operating, and upgrading the city's collection system. Responsibilities include scheduled maintenance line cleaning and line inspections for potential stoppages.

The South Treatment Plant treats approximately half of the City's wastewater, which consists of light commercial and residential flows.
