Wastewater Collection Preventive Maintenance Line Cleaning

City and contractual staff are assigned to maintaining, operating, and upgrading the city's collection system. Responsibilities include scheduled maintenance line cleaning and line inspections for potential stoppages. The purpose of the this program is to reduce sewer stoppages and property damage, identify system infiltration points and sub-basins subject to sur-charging. Visual inspection of the collection system during moderate to heavy rain periods and annual visual inspection of complete system. Scheduled cleaning of known/identified problem areas and as needed cleaning of line segments per inspection program findings.

Manhole Inspection

The Water Utilities Department scope of service for wastewater collection is to maintain and operate a sanitary sewer collection system that is in compliance with all regulatory agencies and to provide timely completion of all system repairs and enhancements. All sanitary sewer manholes are inspected annually to reduce the time requirements for stoppage investigations, repairs and to check for illegal connections. All emergency requests are responded to within one hour of the time it is received.

Wastewater Collection

City and contract crews are responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of wastewater collection lines, manholes, and appurtenances. Crews make all necessary repairs to lines transporting wastewater from the customer to the treatment plant. These repairs include unstopping city wastewater transmission lines, investigating stoppages on homeowner's private sewer lines, preventive maintenance line cleaning and manhole repairs to ensure that wastewater is transported from the customers' sewer service to wastewater lift stations and eventually to a waste treatment facility with minimal disruption. Personnel are available 24 hours a day to respond to all requests both emergency and routine.
