Daily Traffic Operations

Staff maintains all City owned traffic pavement markings/signs and ensures their reflectivity and compliance with City standards through quarterly inspections and the implementation and inspection of service contracts. Staff also provides technical field support to traffic engineering through the acquisition of traffic counts, traffic complaint investigation services, enforcement of work zone traffic control plans, and turning movement counts. Staff continually monitors the condition and operation of both City and TxDOT traffic signals through frequent field inspections, monitoring via the Traffic Management System workstation, and communications with the Police Department. Staff adjusts traffic signal timing plans when necessary to accommodate changing traffic patterns or volumes due to new development, special events, and construction.
