Heavy Trash/Appliances

The City's contractor, Allied Waste Services, will collect and dispose of large items and appliances on either collection day of the week.  Doors must be removed from refrigerators and freezers before placing them out for collection.  Allied Waste has an additional 24 hours to remove appliances with refrigerants.  Some large or unusually heavy items are not collected curbside.  Please call the Public Works Department at 281-275-2450 if you have a question about a particular item.

Beginning March 1, 2008, Allied Waste will no longer pick up appliances that were designed to contain refrigerants (freezers, refrigerators, air conditioning units) unless they have been certified by a professional to be free of refrigerants. Allied Waste will maintain a list of vendors that can provide this service. (Allied Waste can be reached at 713-937-9955.) Residents also have the option of taking uncertified appliances to the Fort Bend County Recycling Center located in Rosenberg where they are accepted for a $10 charge. (Fort Bend County Recycling Center can be reached at 281-633-7581.) Appliance stores also typically will take old appliances with the purchase of new ones.

Tree Limbs

Bulky items, such as shrubs, clippings and tree limbs, are considered heavy trash and will be collected on either collection day. Limbs must be less than 4" in diameter and less than 4' in length.  It is helpful, but not required, to tie or bundle limbs.  Stumps and large limbs that are not cut into firewood size pieces will not be collected. Residents are limited to a maximum of 15 cubic yards per collection arranged in piles 3' x 3' x 3' easily handled by one person.

UNACCEPTABLE CURBSIDE ITEMS

Allied Waste will not pick up: automobile parts, tree stumps and logs larger than 4' in length or greater than 4" in diameter, dirt, construction debris, concrete, bricks, rocks, roofing materials, metal poles, trampoline frames, hazardous chemicals, lead batteries, motor oil, tires, gasoline, paint, landscape timbers over 2' long or fence pickets with nails.
