Welcome
The Solid Waste Division is responsible for solid waste and recycling services for the City. The division manages the residential solid waste program, commercial solid waste license program, and recycling drop-off centers. The division contracts with Republic Services and WCA to provide solid waste and recycling services to residents of Sugar Land in a manner that is safe, efficient, environmentally sound and cost-effective.
ENHANCED SOLID WASTE & RECYCLING PROGRAM
Sugar Land City Council approved a 10-year contract with Republic Services for automated collection of garbage and recycling, a green waste recycling program and a bulky waste program.
Households in Sugar Land will receive automated garbage collection twice per week, automated recycling collection once per week, green waste collection once per week, bulky waste collection once per month and an on-call collection service. Also new for every household will be a 95-gallon garbage cart and a 65-gallon recycling cart, though larger or smaller cart sizes may be requested online by July 20 if preferred. New service will begin on Dec. 5.

Commercial
Commercial solid waste operators are required to obtain a license prior to providing service to commercial properties within the City of Sugar Land. If you are considering service from a company not licensed by the City, please make sure the company receives a license prior to initiating services.

Drop-off Centers
The Solid Waste Division manages three recycling drop-off centers which accept the same materials as the curbside recycling program as well as cooking oil and tires. Residents wishing to recycle or properly dispose of other materials can contact the Fort Bend County Recycling and Environmental Center.

Community Events/Programs
The Solid Waste Division educates residents of all ages about waste diversion including recycling, composting, household chemicals, electronics recycling, energy conservation and air quality.
