What is the Airport Academy?
The Sugar Land Regional Airport Academy provides a comprehensive overview of aviation operations and the facility’s important role in the regional economy. Participants learn about the history of Sugar Land Regional Airport (SLRA), the role of the airport in the City’s organization, the scope of airport operations and the economic impact on the region and the benefits provided to Sugar Land.
SLRA is the foremost general reliever airport in the southwest Houston metro sector handling more than 7200 aircraft each month.
Classes begin: February 2, 2012
Schedule:
February 2 through March 8, 2012
Thursday Nights 6:30 - 8:30 PM
Eligible candidates must:
- Live within a 5 mile radius of the airport or have a Sugar Land address, or be a realtor that specializes in the community
- Registered voter
- At least 21 years of age
- Not a City of Sugar Land employee
- Not currently holding or running for elected office in any city, school district, county, state or federal election
- Willing to commit to attendance of all sessions.
