Officer Amy Cummins has been a Peace Officer in the State of Texas since 1998.  She attended the University of Houston Police Academy and soon after became a reserve peace officer for Waller County Constables Office.  She then obtained a Police Officer position at the University of  Houston Police Department – Central Campus in 1999.  That was where she became very involved in Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault crimes and became a Sexual Assault Advocate for the University.  After spending 3 years at the University of Houston, she was hired by the Sugar Land Police Department where she is currently in the Crime Prevention Division. 

Ofc. Cummins has her Advanced Peace Officer license, is certified in numerous areas of law enforcement and a member of The Honor Guard, Recruiting team, Nationally Certified Child Safety Seat Technician and she also does volunteer work for the Fort Bend County Women’s Center and Children’s Protective Services.  Ofc. Cummins does numerous speaking engagements on the subject of Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence and also volunteers for the United Way.  She is currently enrolled in school to continue her education to become a Sexual Assault Counselor as well.  She has a tremendous respect and concern for victims and found that being a Police Officer has given her a chance to make a difference in people’s lives.
