Capt. Gary Cox is responsible for the Criminal Investigation Division, which investigates all crimes in Sugar Land that are not observed by a patrol officer. In addition to CID, the division includes the Special Crimes Unit/Gang Task Force and Crime Scene Investigations. Capt.

The division is capable of investigating any criminal act and has the ability to work with any other local police department or federal law enforcement agency. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has offices within the Criminal Investigations Division.

Special Crimes Unit/Gang Task Force
This multijurisdictional "special crimes unit/gang task force was created by the police departments of Sugar Land, Missouri City, Stafford and the Fort Bend Independent School District. The unit shares information and strategies to cope with various types of crimes - including gang activities - that often occur across jurisdictions.
