Our Mission

The Sugar Land Police Department places an emphasis on quality law enforcement, crime prevention and community policing. The overall goal of the organization is to develop partnerships and joint problem-solving techniques with the community that will increase the quality of life for residents and visitors of the City of Sugar Land.

Department Profile

The Sugar Land Police Department is made up of 176.5 employees who are dedicated to improving the life of the citizens of the City of Sugar Land by reducing crime and making Sugar Land the safest place to live in the United States.

The Sugar Land Police Department is centrally located within the City at 1200 Highway 6 South in Sugar Land, Texas. The building was completed in 1996 and serves as a center for police training in the area.

Online Forms

The Sugar Land Police Department offers a variety of ways to submit information and request services on the Web site.

  • Information Request Form - Texas law gives you the right to access certain government records, such as law enforcement records. Government information is presumed to be available to the public. Certain exceptions may apply to this disclosure of information.
  • Lost Property Form - File a lost property report by completing the online form. It is possible that you will be contacted by an officer or detective in reference to this report.
  • House Watch Request - Remember to send this form at least three days before the date you are leaving in order to process your request properly. The House Watch Program is designed to provide homeowners a means of having their residence checked periodically by an officer when they are away from home on vacation or an extended weekend.
  • Citizens Police Academy - Apply for the Sugar Land Police Department's 14-week Citizen Police Academy online.
  • Bicycle Registration Form - Register bikes online, then bring them to the police department for engraving and ID tag attachment. If the registered bicycle is ever lost or stolen, the registration number, serial number and owner applied numbers will assist in the returning of the bicycle to the rightful owner.
  • Citizen Complaint Form - This form will be forwarded directly to the Office of Professional Standards. An investigator will conduct a follow-up interview.
  • Traffic Concerns - If you are interested in reporting a concern about a specific traffic problem, the Traffic Division will investigate your concern and report the results to you as quickly as possible.

Services

  • Daily Crime Report - An easy-to-use online tool for residents and visitors to access crime and police report information within Sugar Land.
  • Fingerprinting Services - Fingerprinting services are provided to the public Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00 am - 11:00am 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Crime Information

  • Crime Analysis - Providing timely, accurate and useful crime analysis data to officers, detectives and command staff, for the purpose of more effectively deploying the department's resources to better serve the community.
  • Most Wanted - Information and composite drawings on criminals wanted by the Sugar Land Police Department.
  • Open Records - The records section processes citizen requests for accident, offense and incident reports.
  • Sex Offenders - The Sex Offender Registry includes Public Sex Offender Registration information submitted to DPS by local law enforcement agencies.
  • Victims Assistance - The Victim Assistance Program strives to have a positive impact in providing appropriate responses to the needs of all crime victims.

  • Beats - This Crime Prevention Program partners with residents to increase safety within the community.
  • Kid Safety - Safety Awareness programs for kids.
  • Safety Tips - A List of many tips to help keep you and your family safe.
  • Subdivisions - A List of Sugar Land subdivisions and which Beat they are located in.
  • Home Security Information - This program is designed to encourage citizens to become more involved in crime prevention by reducing opportunities for residential burglary.

For Kids

  • Child Safety Seat - The Sugar Land Police Department has taken aggressive steps to protect children by not only actively enforcing child restraint laws, but also training individuals in the area on proper installation of child safety seats.
  • r.a.d. KIDS - r.a.d. for Kids is open to boys and girls kindergarten through 6th grade (ages 5 to 12) and covers virtually all aspects of child safety awareness.

Programs

  • Victims' Assistance - The Sugar Land Police Department's Victim Assistance Program strives to have a positive impact in providing appropriate responses to the needs of all crime victims to lessen the short and long-term trauma experienced as a direct result of victimization.
  • 55 Alive Program - The Sugar Land Police Department, in conjunction with the Sugar Land Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons, regularly sponsors a driving course at the Police and Municipal Court Facility located at 1200 Highway 6 South in Sugar Land.
  • Are You OK - a telephone reassurance program sponsored by the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office for seniors or disabled citizens of Fort Bend County.
  • Citizen's Police Academy - Have you ever wondered what it is like to be a police officer? Please join us for our 42nd session of our Citizens Police Academy.
  • Texans Against Crime - Texans Against Crime was formed by the East Texas Crime Prevention Association in 2007 to encourage residents to meet their neighbors and show support for fighting neighborhood crime.
  • Neighborhood Watch - Neighborhood Watch is a Community Policing partnership program that rapidly expanded nation-wide in the 1970's to combat significant increases in residential crime.
  • r.a.d. Kids - Open to boys and girls kindergarten through 6th grade (ages 5 to 12) and covers virtually all aspects of child safety awareness.
  • Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) - Attendees will be introduced to the theories of risk avoidance, risk recognition, risk awareness, and risk reduction to help them stay safe in their everyday environments.
