EGGSTRAVAGANZA 2009

Children hunting for eggs during an egg scramble.

Enjoying perfect spring weather over 6,000 people took part in the City’s 2009 EGGStravaganza Egg Hunt at Eldridge Park.

Eggscited children scrambled for treat filled eggs, had their photo taken with the Easter Bunny and enjoyed the many free activities in the park, such as bounce houses, an obstacle challenge, miniature train ride and a petting zoo.

New in 2009 was the addition of an egg hunt area for children with special needs.  Children with vision or mobility impairments were able to hunt for eggs in an area specially set up for their needs using hay bales and beeping eggs.

To celebrate the City's 50th Anniversary, children could also win an additional special prize by finding one of 50 `golden' eggs during their egg hunt.

The 50th celebrations continued with children able to help paint a giant 30 foot mural specially designed for the City’s 50th Anniversary celebrations.  This mural is a way for all residents to have an active part in the City’s celebrations and will be at other City events throughout the year.  The completed mural will on display at the City’s final 50th Celebration in the Town Square on New Year’s Eve – so save the date for New Year's Eve.

Don’t forget to make a note of next year's EGGStravaganza too - Saturday, March 27, 2010.
