The existing Sugar Land Community Center is under going a major interior renovation in 2012.  A ground breaking ceremony, or in this case a wall busting ceremony, kicked off the effort on January 17, 2012.  The building is getting an extreme make-over and is being re-purposed as the new and improved, as well as much larger Senior Citizen Center.  The new space will also still accommodate most of the rental activities that have utilized the Community Center over the years. Due to booming growth in the City's Seniors program the necessity for additional space dictated the need  to expand.  The Community Center is next door to the current Senior Center and therefore it will  continue to conveniently serve the growing Senior population.  

The interior remodel will  include a computer room/library, game rooms, arts and crafts room, teaching kitchen, and multi-purpose rooms for classes, movies, exercise, dance, bingo and other forms of entertainment.  The Community Center remodel will almost double the space currently available to Seniors in the current location next door in the Parks and Recreation Department Administration Building.  The anticipated completion will be mid-to- late 2012.

Reservation Eligibility

1. In order to receive resident rental rates a valid (Sugar Land) Texas driver's license and City of Sugar Land water bill will be required to show proof of residency.  Applicants that have Sugar Land as the city on their license but the address does not fall within the corporate city limits will not receive resident rates.
2. Applicants must be 21 years of age or older.
3. The person signing the application must handle all transactions, inquiries and changes.
