The City of Sugar Land is updating the Land Use Plan, which documents the land use policies that guide development within the City. The Land Use Plan is one of the City's eight master plans and was last updated in November 2004. Learn more about the plan update.

Draft Land Use Policies
Using public feedback from the Land Use Forum, Land Use Advisory Committee, and the Public Meeting in December 2014, draft land use policies have been created. The land use policies are a set of guiding principles that can be used in decision making and to help guide development in the City.

Fort Bend ISD - School Information

FBISD is currently constructing a new elementary school (Sullivan Elementary) in the Riverstone Development within the Sugar Land ETJ portion of Riverstone. FBISD released an FAQ sheet, dated 1/28/16, announcing the attendance zone for the new elementary school in and the resulting changes to the existing Commonwealth Elementary School attendance zone.

This information was also presented to Planning & Zoning Commission at their April 12 meeting

Land Use Plan Meeting
A Land Use Plan meeting was held on September 2 with the purpose of providing attendees with a project overview, introduction of the draft vision, goals, and policies, and allow an opportunity for the public to provide feedback. Watch video of the meeting.

Land Use Forum

The land use forum speaker and community discussion series has come to a close. During the 3 month series, over 200 people attended and participated. The six-part speaker series included presentations by recognized experts on a variety of land use-related topics important to consider for the near and long-term future of Sugar Land.
