Upcoming Changes to Commercial Solid Waste Services
On March 19, 2013, City Council granted an exclusive franchise and contract to BFI Waste Services of Texas,  L.P.  (Republic Services). The exclusive franchise is for the collection and disposal of solid waste from commercial properties. This exclusive franchise also includes the collection and disposal of residential and commercial construction and demolition debris for projects that exceed 30 days. The exclusive franchise, contract, and new rates will take effect October 1, 2013.

Ordinance No. 1895 establishes the framework for an exclusive commercial solid waste franchise.
Ordinance No. 1896 amends Code of Ordinance Chapter 2 Section 136, Fees for Various Services.
Ordinance No. 1897 grants exclusive solid waste franchise and an exclusive franchise contract for the collection and removal of solid waste to Republic Services (BFI Waste Services of Texas, LP).
