Sugar Land’s 13th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Event

Thursday, December 1, 2016
Sugar Land Town Square

2015 Event Recap
The 13th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony was a magical evening that brought close to 10,000 attendees to celebrate the upcoming holiday season with Santa! Attendees enjoyed an evening of enchantment with a mixture of some of the community’s most popular performers.

However, entertainment wasn’t confined to the main stage, a giant toboggan tunnel ride, an ice sculpting artist, a puppet show and walk around entertainment could also be found on Town Square. Booths hosted by local retailers and businesses lined City Walk Drive with free activities for the entire family. Food, drinks, and treats were also available for purchase.

This year, Rudolph wasn’t feeling well and without him, Santa couldn’t find Sugar Land. Mayor Thompson decided to light our 40 ft. tree hoping that the lights would guide him to Sugar Land! ...and the Mayor’s Plan worked! Santa and Mrs. Claus came straight to Sugar Land while Buddy and the other elves danced with joy! The night concluded with Santa thanking the audience for lighting the tree, and signing a holiday carol alongside his North Pole family.

If you missed out on the fun this year, make sure to mark your calendar for next year on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Sugar Land Town Square.
