Planning & Response
Emergency Management coordinates preparedness, response and recovery efforts between City departments, citizens and surrounding communities. Activities include:

  • Review of emergency operation plans.
  • Training, evaluating, and ensuring all City employees understand their specific roles and responsibilities relative to an emergency.
  • Organize and oversee exercises that aim to maintain a high level of preparedness. Exercises include hurricane events, hazardous material scenarios, and activation of the City’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
  • Involvement in the statewide All-Hazards Incident Management Team (AHIMT) process to train City employees to manage emergency situations.
  • Ensure City facilities and vehicles are working at full capacity to ensure a high level of service in case of emergencies.
