Household Tips
Residents can save thousands of gallons each year and at the same time ensure a sufficient water supply for generations to come by practicing the following additional water saving tips.
  • Take shorter showers or consider installing low flow shower heads
  • Repair or replace the handle on your toilet if it is prone to sticking and check the toilet tank for leaks
  • Fill the dishwasher and washing machine completely before using them
  • Turn water off when brushing your teeth or shaving
  • Do not use your toilet to dispose trash
  • Water your lawn only when it needs it and during early morning or late evening
  • When you do water, water deeply and infrequently to promote good root growth and healthy plants
  • Use a bucket to wash the car, and when rinsing use a hose with a shut-off nozzle
  • Sweep your driveway and sidewalks clean, do not use water from a hose to remove debris
