Police Department Teen Academy
PDTeenInteraction.jpgThe Teen Academy is a new program developed to engage students in a variety of topics designed to foster relationships, trust and understanding between officers and teens. Participants will have an opportunity to gain an understanding of police operations through specialized presentations and hand-on activities.

The two week academy will be held at the Sugar Land Police Department from June 12 through June 23. Applications are available through March 6.


Requirements
Requirements for consideration include:
  • Commitment to attend all sessions (Mondays through Fridays, from 8 a.m. to noon).
  • Be a student between the age of 14 to 18.
  • Be enrolled in public or private school within the city of Sugar Land or its extra-territorial jurisdiction.
  • Provide a parental release.
  • Provide a medical release.
  • Answer all application questions.

Classes are limited to 20 students per session. 

Applying
You must sign up through the city's volunteer website.

  • For current volunteers
    Current Serve Sugar Land volunteers can log in using your email and password in the upper right hand corner of the page, then select "Get Involved" and select Police Department Teen Academy Application - existing volunteer.
  • For new volunteers
    If you are new to the volunteer system, click on the "Get Involved" tab and select and complete the Police Department Teen Academy Application- new volunteer.
