Tiles
Tiles are not accepted for curbstop pickup. You may be able to dispose of this item at a local landfill for a fee.
Tin cans
Residents can recycle tin cans at the curb with the exception of paint, solvent, adhesive containers, pesticide and herbicide containers. Put all other tin cans in your recycling bin or you can recycle them at the recycling centers located at 111 Gillingham Lane or 4802 Scenic Rivers Drive.
Tires
Tires can be dropped in the tire recycling enclosure located at the City of Sugar Land Public Works Department at 111 Gillingham Lane between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Passenger tires only. Rims must be removed. A maximum of 4 per tires per week. You can also take tires to the Fort Bend County Recycling Center.
Tissue paper
Residents cannot recycle tissue paper at the curb. Please put this material in your trash.
Toilet tissue
Residents cannot recycle toilet or facial tissue at the curb. Please put these materials in your trash.
Toys
Residents cannot recycle toys at the curb. If they are in good condition you may be able to donate them to a charitable organization or thrift store. Otherwise, please put them in your trash.
Trailers
Trailers or any item with a title of ownership are not accepted for curbside pickup. Please consult a junk yard about disposal options.
Transmission fluid
Residents should take household quantities of transmission fluid to the Fort Bend County Recycling Center where it will be recycled. Do not mix it with other automotive products. Avoid having to dispose of transmission fluid by buying only what you need. Some automotive stores or garages may take this item for you.
Don't dump it! - Never put anything into a storm drain! If you have usable leftover items, share them with family or neighbors. Used oil, old paint and other household chemicals may not be placed in your trash for collection.
Trees, Downed
On the Right of Way: Please report downed trees that are blocking the street or public right of way to the Public Works Department at 281-275-2450.
On Electrical Wires: Please report downed trees that are on electrical wires to Centerpoint Energy at 713-207-2222.
On Private Property: Individual property owners are responsible for taking care of trees that are downed on their own property. Options include cutting it up and including it with your weekly yard trimming collection, hauling it a local landfill for a fee, or hiring a contractor to clear the tree for you. Bulky items, such as shrubs, clippings and tree limbs, are considered heavy trash and will be collected on either collection day. Limbs must be less than 4" in diameter and less than 4' in length. It is helpful, but not required, to tie or bundle limbs. Stumps and large limbs that are not cut into firewood size pieces (2' x 6") will not be collected. Residents are limited to a maximum of 15 cubic yards per collection arranged in piles 3' x 3' x 3' easily handled by one person.
