Sand

Sand is not accepted for curbside pickup. You may be able to dispose of this item at a local landfill for a fee.

Don't dump it! - Never put anything into a storm drain! If you have usable leftover items, share them with family or neighbors. Used oil, old paint and other household chemicals may not be placed in your trash for collection.

Sandwich Baggies

Residents cannot recycle sandwich baggies at the curb. Please put these in your trash.

Sawdust

Please seal sawdust in a plastic bag before putting it in the trash. This will help prevent employee injuries or litter problems.

Scrap Metal

Scrap metal is not accepted for curbside pickup. Please contact a junk yard or a landfill for disposal.

Shampoo Bottles

Residents can recycle shampoo bottles made from #1, #2, #3, #4, #5 and #7 plastic, can be recycled in your recycling bin or at the recycling center located at 111 Gillingham Lane.

Sheet Rock

Sheet rock is not accepted for curbside pickup. You may be able to dispose of this item at a local landfill for a fee.

Shingles

Shingles are not accepted for curbside pickup. You may be able to dispose of this item at a local landfill for a fee.

Shoe Boxes

Shoe boxes can be recycled by putting them in the recycling bin or you can recycle them at the recycling centers located at 111 Gillingham Lane or 4802 Scenic Rivers Drive.

Siding

Siding is not accepted for curbside pickup. You may be able to dispose of this item at a local landfill for a fee.

Small Branches

Bulky items, such as shrubs, clippings and tree limbs, are considered heavy trash and will be collected on either collection day. Limbs must be less than 4" in diameter and less than 4' in length. It is helpful, but not required, to tie or bundle limbs. Stumps and large limbs that are not cut into firewood size pieces will not be collected. Residents are limited to a maximum of 15 cubic yards per collection arranged in piles 3' x 3' x 3' easily handled by one person.

Smoke Detectors

Smoke detectors can be disposed of in your regular trash.

An alternative disposal option is to mail the smoke detector back to the manufacturer for disposal. The manufacturer may charge a fee for this service.

Soap Bottles

Residents can recycle liquid and dishwashing soap bottles made from #1, #2, #3, #4, #5 and #7 plastic, can be recycled in your recycling bin or at the recycling center located at 111 Gillingham Lane.

Solvents

Residents should take household quantities of solvents to the Fort Bend County Recycling Center. Avoid having to dispose of solvents by buying only what you need.

Empty solvent containers should be put in the trash.

Stone

Stones are not accepted for curbside pickup. You may be able to dispose of this item at a local landfill for a fee.

Styrofoam

Residents CANNOT recycle styrofoam at the curb. Packaging and products can usually be identified by a recycling triangle logo with the number 6 inside it stamped on the item. You may be able to donate styrofoam peanuts to Mail Boxes Etc., or a similar store for reuse. If you dispose of styrofoam peanuts in your trash, please seal them in a plastic bag first which will prevent them from spilling on to the street when your trash is emptied. Large pieces of styrofoam can be broken down, bagged and placed in your trash. Residents can also take household quantities of styrofoam to the Fort Bend County Recycling Center.

Syringes

Syringes should be placed in a sturdy plastic container with a tight fitting lid such as a laundry detergent bottle. The bottle then needs to be taped shut and labeled syringes, sharps, or needles. The bottle can then be placed in your regular trash. DO NOT put this container in your recycling.
