Magazine
Residents can recycle magazines by putting them in their recycling bin with other recyclables or you can recycle them at the recycling centers located at 111 Gillingham Lane or 4802 Scenic Rivers Drive.
You may also be able to donate your your magazines to local hospitals or doctor's offices.
Abitibi's Paper Retriever Program promotes recycling by placing distinctive green and yellow paper retriever bins in highly visible areas at schools, churches and other non-profit organizations. They accept newspapers, magazines and catalogs, office/school paper, mail, phone books and soft cover books.
Margarine Tubs
Margarine tubs or similar containers made of plastic from #1, #2, #3, #4, #5 and #7 plastic, can be recycled in the recycling bin or recycle them at the recycling center located at 111 Gillingham Lane.
Mattresses
Residents can set mattresses and box springs out during their normal garbage pickup. You may be able to dispose of this item at a local landfill for a fee.
Metal
Metal is not accepted for curbside pickup. Please contact a junk yard or a landfill for disposal.
Medical Waste
Syringes, needles, or sharps should be placed in a sturdy plastic container with a tight fitting lid such as a laundry detergent bottle. The bottle then needs to be taped shut and labeled syringes, sharps, or needles. The bottle can then be placed in your regular trash. DO NOT put this container in your recycling.
Microwaves
Residents can set microwaves out during their normal trash collection. You may be able to dispose of this item at a local landfill for a fee. If your microwave is in good condition, you may also be able to donate it to a charitable organization or thrift store.
Residents also have the option of taking appliances to the Fort Bend County Recycling Center located in Rosenberg. Appliance stores also typically will take old appliances with the purchase of new ones.
Milk Jugs
If milk jugs are made from #1, #2, #3, #4, #5 and #7 plastic, can be recycled in your recycling bin or at the recycling center located at 111 Gillingham Lane. You can recycle the milk boxes as long as they don't have a plastic spout otherwise, please put these in your trash.
Mirrors
Mirrors are not accepted for curbside recycling. Please box mirrors or wrap them in several layers of newspaper and label the package "GLASS." Place the package in your trash. These are not accepted at the glass recycling center.
Mortar
Mortar is not accepted for curbside pickup. You may be able to dispose of this item at a local landfill for a fee.
Motor Oil
Residents may take household quantities of motor oil and oil filters to the Fort Bend County Recycling Center for safe disposal. Do not mix motor oil with other automotive fluids. Avoid having to dispose of oil by buying only what you need. Some automotive stores or repair shops may take this item for you.
Motor oil can also be recycled at a number of locations around town. You can find these locations at Earth 911.
Don't dump it! - Never put anything into a storm drain! If you have usable leftover items, share them with family or neighbors. Used oil, old paint and other household chemicals may not be placed in your trash for collection.
Motor Oil Bottles
Motor Oil bottles cannot be recycled curbside no matter what type of plastic they are made from. Please put empty bottles in your trash.
Motorcycles
Automotive parts or any item with a title of ownership are not accepted for curbside pickup. Please contact a junk yard to dispose of a motorcycle.
You may also be able to donate your motorcycle if it's in good condition to a charitable organization or thrift store.
Moving Boxes
Flatten corrugated cardboard can be recycled by putting them in or near your recycling bin or you can recycle them at the recycling centers located at 111 Gillingham Lane or 4802 Scenic Rivers Drive.
