Glenda Gundermann has been City Secretary of Sugar Land since 1983. She brings more than 40 years of municipal experience to the position, including over 21 years with the City and over four years with the municipal utility district that served the Sugar Creek Subdivision prior to being annexed into Sugar Land.
The City Secretary is an officer of the City, appointed by the City Manager; the position is statutory required by state law and the City Charter. The position, by ordinance, also includes holding the office of Records Management Officer for the City.
As City Secretary, Glenda is dedicated to uphold the integrity of public service by providing professional leadership and direction in the administration of municipal elections and recording of legislative actions in a fair and timely manner and to support, facilitate and strengthen the City of Sugar Land governmental processes.
Glenda is a Texas Registered Municipal Clerk through the University of North Texas and a Certified Municipal Clerk through the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. She has devoted her career to public service at the local government level starting in 1964 with Clear Lake City Water Authority and in 1979 with City of Cities Municipal Utility District.
Throughout the years, Glenda has recognized the valuable resource found in networking, linking either directly or indirectly with other entities, some of which are: Texas Municipal Clerks Association Board of Directors, serving as state president in 2000, Salt Grass Chapter Municipal Clerks Association President and Board of Directors, Texas Municipal League, Secretary of State Elections Division, Texas State Library Records Committee and Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce.
