Executive Summary

The Houston Galveston Area Council Transportation Policy Council (TPC) serves as the Policy Board for the Metropolitan Planning Organization and provides regular and routine guidance to Multimodal Transportation Planning efforts in the HGAC Management area.

The TPC examines the adequacy and appropriateness of the transportation planning process and advises the HGAC Board of Directors on transportation programs and issues and serves as a forum for public discussion relating to transportation planning.

The voting membership of the TPC is limited to twenty-six (26) members appointed by cities with over 50,000 residents and from at-large members representing the cities in a county that has fewer than 50,000 residents.  Membership is comprised of chief elected officials, chief administrative officers or designated representatives, appointed annually by the governing body.  Alternate members must be appointed in the same manner as the voting member and may serve at TPC meetings in the absence of the voting member.  Pursuant to the Bylaws, members serve a term of one calendar year.
